While my primary goal here on this page will be to address issues of learning, literacy, literature, and the web of education issues and resources that go along with that triumverate, today's blog piece is just...encouraging. This season, so many I encounter feel discouraged or let down by those they trusted or looked up to - some in church, some by family, some related to society in general. Well, focusing particularly on the church today, I have a wonderful essay I want to share with you for a bit of perspective. Written as part of his treatise "The Everlasting Man" in 1925, G.K. Chesterton describes "The Five Deaths of Faith," tracing the spiritual development of Western Civilization and raising the banner for the revival of the church so many of us look for. I think some of you will find it worthwhile to share with your high school students. I have highlighted key points, and hope to replace this copy with an annotated copy soon - meanwhile, don't wait - and don't miss the inspiring ending.
